Helicopter crash report released
The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary finding on the cause of the helicopter crash in northern California August 5 that killed nine Oregon firefighters.
The report tells the helicopter lost power at 7:41 p.m., clipped trees and crashed. The helicopter had made two trips already transporting firefighters to a hot zone. After refueling and gathering the Oregon firefighters, the helicopter crashed just after takeoff.

An Oregon State cop trooper pulled over 25-year-old Cristian Escalante-Castaneda and 28-year-old Alfonso Garcia-Castaneda near Sutherlin after spotting a car following other traffic too closely on Wednesday.
The trooper became suspicious and called for backup with a drug-sniffing dog that found the cocaine hidden inside compartments in the car.
The two men were charged with unlawful possession and distribution of a controlled substance, and were being held at the Douglas County jail.

A man found unconscious is suffering with severe amnesia and authorities are inguireing for the public’s help.
No relatives or friends have identified him.
The John Doe was naked, beaten and unconscious behind a Georgia fast-food restaurant August 31, 2004.
He is 5’11”, 240-pounds with green eyes. There is a series of photographs depicted him at different ages in the hope A fewone would recognize him.

Kacey Montoya: Wollenschlaeger tells the driver responded by leaping through the patrol car’s window and attacking him. Wollenschlaeger and the suspect, later ID’d as Evan Adams of West Salem, fought inside the car, then tumbled out of it and into traffic on Hawthorned Avenue. It was a tough battle, but Wollenshlaeger had help; after all, he was on K-9 Patrol. He managed to release his partner, a cop dog named “Yo”, and Yo went to work quickly. It didn’t take long for the snarling, biting ferocious canine to subdue Adams.
After he calmed down, Adams blamed his craziness on “psilocybin mushrooms”. He was taken to the hospital for dog bite treatment, and then to the jail for booking.
Jerry Wollenschlaeger suffered only bumps, bruises and torn clothing.

Monday night, the school gyms were being battered by 50 mph winds. “A couple of clients have brought in their own little portable televisions”, tells Mike. “so they’ve watched whatever they could of what channel they can find on the airways.”
Other evacuees and volunteers are tracking the storm via the Web, as it moves into Eastern Texas. Monday night, it was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. But even a tropical storm is capable of dumping huge amounts of rain, so flooding remains a concern.

Kacey Montoya: DOGS STOLEN
The break-in happened Saturday. Someone cut a lock to get into the shelter, then made off with the dogs. Later, a passer-by found four dead border collies along Pleasant Valley Road. All had been beaten and struck in the head. They had been brought to the shelter as strays.
The four missing dogs are two blue heeler pubblies, an older female dachsund and a female chocolate labrador retriever. Given what was done to the fiirst four dogs, person are searching roadsides around the area north of Grants Pass.
